The lighthouse is located in the village of Charlotte (at the Port of Rochester, NY). The Charlotte-Genesee Lighthouse Historical Society is entrusted to maintain the Lighthouse property including the Keeper's House and Tower. The County of Monroe owns the property and the buildings on it. The lighthouse was built in 1822. The Current Keeper’s House was built in 1863 to replace the original one which was just to the south of the current building. Our regular weekend tours begin on Saturday, May 10, 2008 and will end on Oct. 26, 2008. Special Group Tours are available other times by calling (585) 621-6179 for an appointment. Sorry for the inconvenience. 5/6/08 WEATHER BUG COMES TO THE LIGHTHOUSE Live Camera View (Refresh Browser to see latest view) WEATHER BUG, WHEC CHANNEL 10 & THE LIGHTHOUSE PARTNER TOGETHER: We have partnered with Weather Bug and WHEC Channel 10 to bring you pictures of the area around the lighthouse and up to the minute weather information. Wouldn't it be nice to know what the weather conditions were at Ontario Beach Park or when you want to take your boat out on the Genesee River or Lake Ontario. Well, you can get them on the WHEC channel 10 website or your own Weather Bug display on your computer. See below: WEATHER BUG SOFTWARE ON YOUR DESKTOP: You can set up a Weather Bug on your computer so that you will see the Weather Forecast, Maps and Pictures at an instant. Go to the Weather Bug WEB site at: www.weatherbug.com . Enter the Zip Code "14612". You will come up with "Instructions for Downloading Weather Bug Software". Read the Instructions. When ready move your mouse to the area "click here". This will begin the download process. Once you have it running, make sure you set the default to Zip Code 14612 or Charlotte-Genesee Lighthouse.
